Kyoto-Pro Defender Specifications Men:
Extra-Protective Men-Buton – the Men pad is constructed from multiple protective layers, with a dual layer of selected natural felts at its core. Those layers of differential density have been carefully selected and tested to best balance weight, density and impact management. Additional layers of padding material are integrated across the primary target area, increasing protection and overall thickness in this “high traffic” zone.
Shock Absorbent Pitch Stitch – 6mm longitudinal bands of stitching are applied with Pitch-Zashi 4mm long stitches through the Futon, reducing compression of the Men padding and increasing the absorption of shock at the point of impact.
Diagonal Men-Dare Stitch – the Naname-Zashi (diagonal stitch) element applied on the Men-Dare allows the Men to sit correctly from the outset of use, preventing interference with head posture and overcoming traditional “breaking in” periods.
Duralumin Men-Gane – the Men grille is an industry standard component with a tough light-weight alloy construction.
Crossed Kazari Ito Ago – classic crossed braid design on an embossed man-made leather field decorates the Tsuki-Dare (also known as Ago), giving a tough, timeless finish.
Shirurido Microfibre Uchiwa – the ultimate in both comfort and sweat management, the internal band which surrounds and contacts the face offers the best solution for quality and comfort of fit.
Men Weight* - 1303g
Kote:
Extra-Protective Kote-Buton – Kote pads are constructed with dual protective layers of selected natural felts of differential density in combination to balance weight, density and impact management. Right hand Kote-Buton feature additional layers of padding material and shielding, offering added protection in this more exposed and more commonly impacted target.
Shock Absorbent Pitch Stitch – 6mm horizontal bands of stitching are applied with 4mm long stitches through the Kote-Buton, reducing compression of the Kote padding and increasing the absorption of shock at the point of impact.
Clarino Neo Leather Tenouchi-Gawa – the toughest of the Kote palm material options but the least elastic, Clarino is a type of man-made leather which is fast drying and highly resistant to wear and tear.
Man-Made Atama Fill – synthetic wool forms the stuffing material within the Atama (hand protection). Denser and less malleable than natural materials, this fill material maintains its volume and shape and is not easily compressed over time.
Kote Weight* - 512g
Do:
Reinforced Fibre Do-Dai – created from a single formed span of reinforced fibre, the standard Do-Dai (plate) is finished in classic high gloss black.
Natural Kurozan Leather Do-Mune – traditional black embossed leather covers a toughened core of layered material forming a stiff, damage resistant upper.
Noukon Gobanzashi Shokko – the ultimate in low key ascetic styling the classic dark blue “point” pattern in vertical arrangement pairs beautifully with the simple Ago (Tsuki-Dare) design.
Ko-Gumo Kazari-Ito – when it comes to Bogu styling, often less is more. Here the Ko-Gumo (small cloud) Kazari-Ito braid design offers structure to the Mune design, offering some protection from errant Shinai which manage to slide up the Mune towards the throat.
Do Weight* - 1290g
Tare:
Shock Absorbent Pitch Stitch – 6mm longitudinal bands of stitching are applied with 4mm long stitches through the Futon, reducing compression of the Tare padding and increasing the absorption of shock on impact.
Comfort Fit Hara-Obi – a supple and supremely comfortable band of Aizome dyed fabric, stitched in the same 4mm pitch stitching at 6mm intervals as featured throughout the Bogu set.
Clarino Neo-Leather Reinforcement – added along the sides and leading edges of the O-Dare to offer additional resistance to damage in passing contact, limiting regular wear and tear.
