Top quality, limited edition Japanese Furoshiki wrap for carrying Keikogi, Hakama and accessories.

Lovingly crafted from high class fabric with classic Japanese motif's, these Furoshiki form part of our limited run of Moyo Bukuro. Thought to date back to the Nara period (AD 710 to 794), Furoshiki are a highly traditional way to wrap and carry clothing and other small items. Formed from a hemmed square of fabric perfectly sized to bundle a full set of clothing and accessories, Furoshiki can be tied in myriad ways, an art-form in its own right.

Features include:

Traditional Manekineko pattern – A cat with a raised paw, often holding a coin or a hairball, is a symbol of luck and prosperity. There was a popular belief that cats had the ability to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck to people. The legend has it that the first manekineko was created for a Shinto temple in the Wakayama region of Japan, where a priest noticed a cat inviting travellers into the temple by raising its paw. So he created a cat statue to attract people into the temple.

Large Size – at 100x100cm, this wrap can easily accommodate a range of volumes, tying more tightly for smaller items and less compactly for bigger bundles.
